What is the lodge's location and accessibility?
Answer: The lodge is located in Vergel de Punta Mala, accessible by car. It's a 12-minute drive from the Costanera highway. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.

What is the best time of year to visit?
Answer: The best time to visit is December to May when the weather is sunny and warm. Winter offers great birdwatching opportunities. The lodge is closed from September to November due to heavy rains, but welcomes guests from December to August.

What are the accommodations like?
Answer: The lodge offers 2 rooms equipped with kitchens, hot tub, terrace, hairdryer, coffee machine, and tea. See rooms here!

Is the lodge family-friendly?
Answer: Yes, we offer guided natural history hikes and eco-farm activities suitable for families.

What are the dining options?
Answer: The lodge does not currently have a restaurant (expected mid-2025). We offer a half-pension package with dinner provided at a nearby restaurant.

Are pets allowed at the lodge?
Answer: Currently, pets are not permitted to ensure the protection of local wildlife.

Is there Wi-Fi available?
Answer: Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge.

Are special dietary requests accommodated?
Answer: Yes, please inform us in advance, and we will coordinate with our restaurant partner to accommodate special diets.

Is the lodge eco-friendly?
Answer: Yes, sustainability is central to our operation, including renewable energy usage, waste reduction programs, and eco-friendly practices.

Do you provide transportation or airport transfers?

What wildlife can I expect to see?
Answer: We have documented the flora and fauna in the reserve. Find the list here. Common sightings include monkeys, sloths, toucans, and numerous bird species.

Do I need to book tours in advance?
Answer: Tours at the reserve do not require advance booking, though we offer a lodging + tours package at a discounted price. For external tours, please contact us in advance for reservations.

Are there guided wildlife tours?
Answer: Yes, we offer guided wildlife tours led by experienced guides. Our tours include the Natural History Hike, Nightwalk Tour, and Natural Medicine.

Can I go on a safari?
Answer: No, we do not offer safari-type activities, but our guided tours provide excellent opportunities to observe wildlife closely and safely.

Can I swim in the river or lake?
Answer: Yes, there is a pristine river running by the property, ideal for swimming and relaxing. Always exercise caution as conditions may vary with weather.

Are there photography opportunities?
Answer: Absolutely! The reserve provides exceptional opportunities for wildlife and nature photography.

Is there equipment available for activities?
Answer: No at the time. It will be available in May 2025.

Answer: Yes, our guided night tours are carefully planned with experienced guides to ensure safety and maximize wildlife viewing.

Is there a spa or wellness center?
Answer: There is no spa, but we can arrange for a massage from a local provider. Please let us know in advance to schedule an appointment.

Answer: Pets are not allowed to avoid disturbance to the environment.

Answer: Rooms can be canceled up to 7 days prior to your arrival, after which they are fully charged. If you have a reasonable reason for cancellation (e.g., health-related), we will refund your money.
